Where the Sound Takes You

I’m a Gibson Acoustic guy, tried and true. I’ve never played a Takamine I really liked, and I could take or leave Martin guitars. And, I’ve avoided slotted headstocks except on my two nylon string guitars. And yet, somehow my two favorite guitars right now are a 12-fret, slotted headstock Takamine and a 12-fret, slotted headstock Martin. Two amazing music makers. Go where the sound takes you. You’ll never regret it.

this storm is you

James Curtis Smith ~ This Storm is YouNortheast Ohio has been a flood zone for the past 10 days or so. Friends have had to deal with property damages, loss of food due to power outages, gigs have been cancelled, and it's been generally tough going. One positive thing did come from this spate of storms. On July 8th, I snapped a few images of the next batch of storm clouds as they started rolling in. This one struck me as a perfect image for the cover art for my upcoming release. I’m pretty sure this is what the sky looked like in the opening scene of the Half-Blood Prince, right before the Death Eaters show up...

works in progress

Work continues on arranging some of the new songs, and getting the recordings going. This blog is where you'll find links to the individual tracks as they are released, beginning this autumn. I will also update my Twitter and Instagram feeds. You will be able to download them as they become available from my new Bandcamp page. I may even resume posting some thoughts and remembrances in this space. As always, I thank you for your continued interest in - and support of - my creative efforts!
